Brett Borthwick

Los Angeles based Contemporary Impressionist, BRETT BORTHWICK combines confectionary hues with whimsical brush and palette knife strokes to create her luminous body of work. As an avid traveler and endless daydreamer, Brett infuses the essence of both into each of her oil paintings . Redolent of balmy summer nights overtopped with delicate pastel pastries, each piece is intended to transport the viewer to beautiful memories or places around the world, to what she calls a “Visual Vacation”.

Born and raised in New York, Brett moved to Los Angeles just before her teenage years. Her passion for the visual arts was set to be a lifelong commitment, but elevated with her nomination to join the Ryman Arts youth program in Los Angeles. She then received her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design, which was followed by a diverse career in runway fashion, toy design, brand development and creative direction. Brett has designed for Mattel, Disney, Kanye West, NBCU and more. Together, these varied creative experiences dovetailed with her love of travel and adventure, comprise the many elements that shape and inform her work's unique perspective.
